5 steps to a thread summary

Reddit Browser handles the rest — fetching, formatting, citing notable comments.

  1. 1
    Open Reddit Browser on Mac

Available on the Mac App Store. Requires macOS 14 or later. Apple Silicon optimized.

  2. 2
    Open any Reddit thread

From the Home tab, sidebar subreddit list, or a URL you paste in.

  3. 3
    Tap Summarize (or press ⌘S)

The Summarize sheet opens with the post title, comment count, and upvote count pre-filled.

  4. 4
    Pick format and depth

Format: Bullets, Paragraph, Pros & cons, ELI5, Q&A. Depth: Quick, Standard, Deep dive.

  5. 5
    Tap Summarize

Reddit Browser pulls the post body and top 10 comments, sends to AI, and streams a summary. Copy, save to drafts, or regenerate.

Five formats. Pick what fits.

Different threads ask for different summary styles. Reddit Browser lets you pick the one that fits — and switch any time without re-fetching.

Bullets

Scannable list of key points. Best for "what happened" threads.

Paragraph

Flowing prose. Best when you want context, not just facts.

Pros & Cons

Two columns. Best for debate threads — Apple vs Linux, EV vs ICE, framework wars.

ELI5

Explain like I'm 5. Best for complex technical threads.

Q&A

Reformatted as Q&A. Best for advice threads and AMAs.

Three depths

Quick, Standard, Deep dive. Trade length for thoroughness.

Frequently asked questions

How long can the thread be?

Reddit Browser reads the original post and the top 10 comments. That's enough for an accurate summary on the vast majority of threads — even with 500+ comments — because the top responses carry most of the signal.

Does it work on image and video posts?

Yes. Reddit Browser detects attached images and videos and tells the AI what's there, so it can summarize the discussion around them even when the post body is empty.

How fast is it?

Usually 5–15 seconds. Output streams token-by-token so you can start reading as it generates.

What AI does it use?

Google Gemini via our own backend. The first time you use AI you'll see a one-time consent screen.

Can I save summaries?

Yes. Every summary can be saved to the Drafts library. Press ⌘D to open Drafts.

Stop scrolling. Start summarizing.

500 comments. 30 seconds. Five formats, three depths, all in a native Mac app.
